The gemstone show a significant slit eye feature which is caused by light reflecting off the stone’s microscopic natural needles, channels or fibre binding them together into a thin streak. The stone must be cut in cabochon with the base parallel to those inclusions for a full effect of the cat’s eye feature so that the cat’s eye appears to glide over the rounded surface when the stone is rotated.

Colour is an important factor for cat’s eye. Yellowish as what is shown for this stone is the most famous and highest sought after colour in the market.
